Orthotics & prosthetics questions

What is the difference between an orthosis and a prosthesis?

An orthosis (brace) supports, stabilises and controls a limb or joint that is still there. A prosthesis replaces a missing part of a limb after an amputation. We make both, custom-fabricated for one patient.

Which conditions can pet orthoses help with?

Rehabilitation after an injury, surgery or trauma; joint conditions such as arthritis and dysplasia; deformities and congenital conditions; neurological problems such as paw knuckling; and prevention of further damage. Orthoses are also used when surgery is not an option.

Who makes bio3Dtech orthoses and prostheses?

Certified orthotists and prosthetists in our lab, with the technologies and materials of the human orthotics and prosthetics sector: vacuum forming, 3D scanning, CAD and 3D printing. Every device is made for one patient. We have been making them since 2018.

Do I need my veterinarian?

Yes. An orthosis or prosthesis should always be used under the guidance of a veterinarian or another qualified professional who assesses your pet’s needs and the fit of the device. We work together with you and your veterinarian.
