Custom-made knee orthoses

One of the most common orthopedic injuries in dogs is the CCL tear. The CCL (Cranial Cruciate ligament) is a connection tissue between the femur and the tibia. The CCL keeps the tibia in place, stabilizes and controls the range of motion on the joint. If this tissue is damaged, it causes pain, restriction of movement and discomfort.

The knee Orthotic stabilizes the joint and controls the unwanted movements between the femur and tibia.

It is a great tool to help dogs heal from this common injury. It reduces the pain, provides support and limits the range of motion while your dog heals.

FAQ

Knee brace questions

When does a dog need a custom knee brace?

Most often after a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear, one of the most common orthopaedic injuries in dogs. A custom knee orthosis is also used for support after knee surgery and when surgery is not an option. Your veterinarian decides together with us whether a brace is right for your dog.

How does a knee brace help a dog with a CCL tear?

The CCL keeps the tibia in place and controls the movement of the knee. When it is damaged, the jointed orthosis stabilises the knee, controls the unwanted movement between the femur and the tibia and limits the range of motion while your dog heals. This reduces pain and supports recovery.

What is the knee brace made of?

A custom-fabricated shell in durable polyethylene/polypropylene (PE-PP) with elastic joints, antibacterial EVA foam, pads, extra support and Velcro straps. Every brace is made in our lab for one dog, with the technologies and materials of the human orthotics and prosthetics sector, and it is waterproof and durable.
