Custom-made carpal orthoses

Carpal pathological issues as well as traumatic events are very common in pets. We fabricate custom-made orthotic devices for each patientโ€™s special needs.

A carpal orthotic device provides rigid support for the carpal joint in a natural stance position. This brace controls unwanted motion, provides stability and helps your dog feel better and regain mobility for a better life. A carpal orthotic device may be jointed or non-jointed.

FAQ

Carpal brace questions

Which carpal problems can a custom carpal brace help with?

Hyperextension, varus/valgus and paw deformities, failed arthrodesis, collateral ligament and radial nerve injuries, arthritis, neurological problems, fractures and other injuries of the carpus (the wrist).

How does a carpal orthosis work?

It gives the carpal joint rigid support in a natural standing position, controls unwanted motion and stabilises the joint. This reduces pain, supports healing and stops knuckling, so your dog can move more comfortably again.

Which version does my dog need: with paw or without?

Both are available, jointed or non-jointed. The version with paw has elastic joints and a shock-absorbing paw part; the non-paw version leaves the paw free and is held by Velcro straps. We choose the design together with you and your veterinarian according to your dog’s condition.
