Veterinary frontiers

The technologies and the know-how behind every bio3Dtech solution.

Pre-planning

Our team works closely with the surgeons in order to make optimized surgery planning for the customer’s needs. We use advanced CAD-CAM-CAE systems to improve the communication between engineers, veterinarians and customers.

At bio3Dtech, we say that โ€œthe key to success is the pre-operative planning!โ€

3D Printing

It is amazing to think that โ€œI can make everything I wantโ€ through 3D printing technology. The evolution of 3D printing is accelerating, and today it is an established tool supporting the veterinary orthopedic community. We use 3D printing technology that ensures high precision and quality to create custom-made surgical guides, anatomical bones and individual implants to help vets during complex orthopedic issues. Our engineering team has deep knowledge of the 3D-printing field and we can provide vets with special solutions that fit their demanding expectations.

3D Scanning

3D scanning is a milestone technology that helps us fabricate advanced orthotics and prosthetics. Using a 3D scanner we digitalize every device in order to design and make it under our customer’s special needs.

Knowledge & Experience

Since 2018 we have been involved in several orthopedic case studies that ensure deep knowledge and experience in complicated orthopedic issues. Our team consists of engineers and orthopedic veterinarians who work closely with the customer providing him the best solution.

how it works

From CT scan to surgery

  1. CT scan The clinic sends us the CT/DICOM data of the patient.
  2. 3D reconstruction We turn the scan into an accurate 3D model of the anatomy.
  3. Pre-planning Together with the surgeon we simulate every step of the surgery.
  4. CAD-CAE Our engineers design the guides, implants or devices.
  5. 3D printing High-precision printing in biocompatible materials.
  6. Surgery The surgeon operates following the approved plan.

surgical guides

How useful are the veterinary custom-made surgical guides?

Veterinary custom-made surgical guides can be extremely useful in certain situations, especially in complex surgeries where precision is crucial. These guides are designed based on the specific anatomy and condition of the individual animal, providing a personalized and accurate approach to surgical procedures. Here are some potential benefits of using custom-made surgical guides in veterinary medicine:

  • Precision and accuracy Custom-made surgical guides are tailored to the unique anatomy of the patient. This can enhance the precision and accuracy of the surgical procedure, minimizing the risk of errors and improving outcomes.
  • Reduced surgical time The use of surgical guides can streamline the surgical process by providing clear landmarks and guidance for the surgeon. This can result in reduced surgical time, which may be particularly beneficial for the patient’s well-being.
  • Minimized tissue trauma Custom guides can help in planning surgeries in a way that minimizes trauma to surrounding tissues. This is especially important in delicate surgeries or procedures involving complex anatomical structures.
  • Improved postoperative recovery By optimizing the surgical approach and reducing potential complications, the use of custom surgical guides may contribute to a smoother postoperative recovery for the animal.
  • Enhanced communication and collaboration Custom-made surgical guides often involve collaboration between veterinarians and specialists in fields such as radiology, orthopedics, or dentistry. This interdisciplinary approach can lead to more comprehensive and effective treatment plans.

It’s important to note that the usefulness of custom-made surgical guides depends on the specific procedure, the patient’s condition, and the expertise of the veterinary team. Veterinarians will assess the individual case to determine whether such guides are appropriate and will contribute to the success of the surgery.

As technology and veterinary medicine continue to advance, the use of custom-made surgical guides is likely to become more common in specific surgical interventions.
